The Power of Happiness: Applying The Positive Emotion In Life and Leadership

Michelle Smith, MS, ACC, CPEC, where we delved into the power of positive psychology and mindset shifts, discussing how happiness and positive emotions can lead to success in both personal and professional realms.

1️⃣ Positive Psychology & Mindset Shifts: Positive psychology is all about finding happiness and success by tapping into intrinsic motivation and values. It’s not about external factors like money or job titles. Shifting our mindset and focusing on positive emotions like love, joy, and gratitude can lead to greater happiness and success in our personal and professional lives.
2️⃣ Healing & Resilience: As Black women and women of color, we often carry the burden of resilience without addressing the healing process. Acknowledging and healing from past traumas and adversity rather than suppressing them is important. Healing takes time, and seeking therapy or counseling can be a powerful tool in this process.
3️⃣ Access to Resources: Many leaders have access to coaches and resources that help them navigate challenges and tap into positive emotions. However, marginalized individuals often lack access to these resources. Organizations must provide support and opportunities for personal and professional growth for all employees, regardless of their background.
